The day it all began. Again.

New shoes were broken in a bit from walking around in them. New running clothes had been delivered. The foot pod was laced onto my shoe. The Couch 2 5K app was downloaded to my phone. I was ready, and I was worried. What if I couldn't run again? What if I sucked at it, or couldn't even run a quarter mile? Why did I ever stop in the first place? These and many other self-doubting questions floated through my mind the night before and as I was getting dressed that morning of February 1st. Somehow I went ahead with it anyway.

The first day of Cool Running's C25K has you run / walk in 60:90 second intervals. I was right about one thing: I had lost all my previous conditioning...the first and second intervals were OK, but the rest felt like torture. I may have been running too fast, and that's something I honestly don't know how to control. What I mean is, I don't know how to slow down without feeling like I'm plodding, so I don't! I was staying at the W Hotel in Fort Lauderdale beach and ran on the sidewalk up and down A1A. Thank goodness, because the view, smell, and breeze of the ocean right next to me made things a bit easier. I was tired and felt insanely out of shape, but finished the entire program as prescribed. My second running life had begun!
